Featured Small Oil Painting - Wekiwa River, Florida

Trying to identify the artist on this small oil painting approximately 6" X 8".

There's not signature, but the style looks like some examples I found on the internet by "Mary Louise Liddell Jordan Hemenway".

I thought maybe the signature was cut off when someone resized the painting, but in taking it out of the frame the paint extends onto the sides and bottom of the canvas/board, and the canvas wraps around the top and bottom of the board, leading me to believe it hasn't been altered.

The location of the scene is written on the back of the frame and there is writing on the back of the picture.

Do any of these clues help identify the artist?

It's a well executed picture anyways I think.

Is the writing in fountain or ball point pen? Looks like ball point.)

Yes, could be Elma Berner. In that link you supplied, at the end of the text is this:

"Florida Federation of Art 14th Annual Circuit, December 5, 1941, Tampa, best Florida subject, Morning on the Little Wekiwa."

So she did paint that location - this could even be a reference to this painting.

 

That fits. Lived in Orlando.
