How about backing away so we can see an overall view from the side?

huh. I still can't figure out how the moving parts move.

Does the round flat piece completely block anything liquid from going into the holes in the bottom? Maybe we need a French person.... @kyratango @popsycat

So, you remove the lid. The handle is suspended on bolts and is connected to a plate that blocks the slots on the bottom, when you press the handle, the plate moves and the holes are revelaed.

And then if there is liquid in the bowl it goes into the holes, out the bottom and onto the table?

Yes, unless an underplate is missing. I’m thinking maybe for ice cubes. Like when they melt down, to drain the water?

Well, that would certainly work, assuming there's an underplate missing. May be there's more missing? Like a plate for butter curls that the ice keeps cold?

It reminds me of a pancake/crepe batter dispenser. What size is it?

Whatever it is probably won't stay long without going under the cover and start dripping.

That's what I thought, but obscure tableware is way outside my area of study. :joyful:
