    Thank you Nancy. I’m glad
you like the photos. I’m always taking photos with a Nikon D3200 or with an iPhone 6s. These were taken with the iPhone. I have a softbox light with 8 bulbs that I set next to it and a large black mousepad I usually set underneath the item. When I want to take photos of makers marks or something else small, I stick my loupe against the iPhone lens which works pretty great. Sometimes I’ll need to edit out the corners since the mouse pad doesn’t always block out the background and I use a really outdated version of Corel photo software to do editing occasionally.

:) johnny sorry about that. I was basically saying I don’t use any super special equipment just a good studio light and a little creativity.

No worries, just an old fogie with a “get off my lawn” grumble

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Can't believe that I never tried that! I have an Android phone, not iPhone, but it takes pretty good photos. I just can't get very close in shots without blurriness.

And your silver find is wonderful, @MrNate -- again!

You should definitely try it, it works so great you’ll be amazed. I don’t remember if someone told me about it or if I just ended up experimenting on my own but it’s a great low cost way to take close up photos.

Thank you for the knowledge Cheryl. I’ll hopefully measure the second item tonight. Before I polished it, I could see it had some wax build up on the outside and inside also.

I've tried that with a phone camera and it does work. I generally shoot auction photos with a real camera, but sometimes that's not possible. It does require having three hands sometimes.
