A ball? I seem to remember reading that they played ball games. Can't remember which particular civilization. Aztecs maybe.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

To ME, kinda looks like a crude version of a 'baseball glove'...............

Although it looks like he is holding a hand grenade, Laura is right, he is a ball game player.
Several did. Yours looks like it could be based on Colima terracottas.

From The Cleveland Museum of Art web site:

"Ballgame ceremonialism and art peaked between AD 600 and 1100 in Veracruz and elsewhere, but forms of a ballgame were played at most times and places in Mesoamerica."

We are in "Mehico" right now, for 2 weeks. If I find a printer, I can show this to locals of several areas and see if they have anything specific to add.

Maybe it is the ancient Maya ballgame called Pitz.

I did see a large rectangular stone wall, it is definitely some kind of ruins and it is about 2.5' tall. I will try to find it again and take a picture, it might be from the game Pok-A-Tok, which was a ball game played by the ancient Maya well over 1000 years ago in what's now Cancun and Riviera Maya. We are in Cancun right now and heading to other areas late next week. I'l just take a picture of your figure on a phone and show it around, don't need a printer - duuuuh on me.
