Featured Chinese Cobalt Porcelain Snuff Bottle Question

    I am trying to figure out the technical term for what looks like applied 'frit' to the carved nude figure on this little bottle. It is really nicely done. Approx. height 3.12 in. Thank you for looking!

    All I can see are some teenaged boys finding Grandpa's snuff bottle and going "heh heh heh. Naked lady."

    Just a guess but pate-sur-pate? I love it .

    I looked at it through a loop and it didn't seem like pate-sur-pate. It has a crystalized texture - almost looks like sugar.

    I don't know enough about ceramics, but could it be possible that after the glaze was applied, but not yet fired, someone went in and scraped away the glaze to create the image?

    It's called sugar glaze believe it or not.
