Maybe she would have written a song called "Phalene" rather than "Joline." :)

First time poster in this forum, and about time. Ms. G and I unexpectedly found this close to home a week ago, and had to have it. It's by Parisian Art Nouveau sculptor Lucien Edouard Alliot and it's called...yes...'Phalene." Bronze, from 1904. It's tall at 24" U.S. and heavy as well.

She has butterfly wings on her head, specifically swallowtail wings.

    We loved it immediately.

Anyway, I don't really have any questions, but would be glad to read any information you might have. Otherwise, keep calm and carry on!

    Phalène means moth.;)
Didn't Dolly Parton sing about butterflies?

Yes, 'Love is like a Butterfly.'

The "cartoon" butterfly on the official video looks like the one on Phalene's head. Which I now understand is supposed to be a moth? With swallowtail wings. I guess Alliot was not a natural history professor in his spare time....:)

Perfect spot for her, the mirror shows her back, and those trumpet vases complement her elegant shape.:)
