    Hi everyone

I'm having a little trouble with some art I have had donated, as you can see it is a print, its one of 850 (which number of 850 I am not sure) The backplate is pictured below and says L Rushton, It is signed by LAURENCE RUSHTON (note the spelling) in pencil. The backplate says it is called "reflections"

When I google this I find nothing, but I find results for "CLOWN" and LARRY RUSHTON and LAWRENCE RUSHTON.

I would hate to sell something that is not genuine, I have seen another on Ebay signed L. Rushton, maybe someone out there could help me shed some light on this :)

    Thank You

I'd pay good money not to have to look at that. I'm not surprised it was given away.

Thank you rhiwfield that certainly was an interesting read, and afantiques I can see your point, I am not a big fan myself, but if it raises a little money I am happy to have it donated :)

Gee, although the print wouldn't fit in my decor, I like it. I think it's well done and kind of haunting, in a good way.

My guess would be that American sellers erroneously assumed "Larry" was short for Lawrence, the American spelling.

Thank you so much for all your comments, and wow rhiwfield your find of this little snippet really adds a great back story to it

"he did when he was in prison,it was painted on his cell door and carefully removed when he had served his time,it was while he was inside he discovered his amazing talent"

I have since found that it is rather unusual, it is the original un-numbered print, the artist signed it Laurence instead of his usual just "L" for reasons unknown, but the signature has been authenticated. I have had it valued and will get it off to auction, fingers crossed it will raise a decent amount of funds for the RSPCA :)
