Hi everyone, I think I found a good one today, I’ve got a bag to sort through but the rest of it appear to be plated. Paid $3 for this today, I think I’m seeing a Minerva mark, but any help with the mark at the bottom of the cup would be great! I’ll get it polished up late tonight.

I think you're barking up the right tree - looks like French maker's mark.

I couldn't wait either. Hard to describe how pretty this one is, definitely one of my favorites of my new collection:

    Great job, Nate!

It appears that the maker's mark may have been double struck. I had tried searching for the initials and device earlier, but got nowhere. Now I see the initials are IG. The device may be a clover. But I don't get what's going on between the device and the G.

That buckle design in jewelry is about 1860s-80s. Wouldn't be surprised if the silver people date your piece to that time frame.

That looks pretty close, I looked for a bit earlier and no luck so far. I definitely think it's a G on the far right, but hard to tell what the letter on the left might be due to the double stamp.

PS I found a bonus piece in the bag, I didn't see a mark at first and so I acid tested it. Came up nice and red, so I looked closer and spotted some impressively sneaky marks. I'll get some photos up on the second item once it's polished, shouldn't take me too long.

Okay, here's the bonus piece! I'm actually a bit confused with this one. It seems too small to be a napkin holder, and it's nice and heavy, and it's got a gold wash on the inside. Any thoughts on what this would be used for? Is there some other use other than the obvious napkin holder?

There was actually one other silver piece, but compared to the other two it wasn't beautiful so I didn't show it. A weighted salt/pepper shaker. The second image is all the plated stuff; some of the items have polish on them because my kids wanted to help me clean the silver so I gave them a few to scrub on ;)

Nice .950 French cup, could certainly be used for juleps, but wouldn't have been originally intended for that very American drink - it would typically be called a timbale or a tumbler (if I recall correctly, some old catalogs called them timbale form cups). I don't think the maker's mark is double-struck, but rather has a border, the initials do look to me like 'IG', but also can't figure out what the two symbols are supposed to be, and a quick search doesn't find likely candidates - it's not Granvigne, as their symbol was, no surprise, a grapevine.

You don't give a measurement on the Russian piece, but it looks like a napkin ring - would expect the diameter to be somewhere between 1-1/2" to 2"...

Those shakers look familiar to me. Perhaps my grandparents had a similar pair.
Congrats on your finds Silver Whisperer.
