    hi folks

these are a few of the leftover necklaces that came in the £3 auction lots

dont think theres anything of note

the black im pretty sure is glass, but a nice glass, long length
the green is long and chunky, but guessing a dyed stone of some kind
the orange is plastic, but doesn't test as anything, think modernish
the red i think is glass as well (air bubbles)

any useful information or thoughts appreciated

The black does look like glass. The green is probably dyed aventurine or similar. The orange is probably synthetic amber. Dunno what it is, but amber it's not. The last one was made by a crafter.

The black ones have a nice older clasp.

The colour of the last necklace always makes me reach for my UV light as some of the older ones this colour react to UV. I don’t think these ones will as the shape of the beads is too modern but always worth a try. I’m constantly surprised at what glows. And sometimes at what doesn’t
I just shine a light on everything!

That’s fun! There’s definitely something in there but looks like a bit of a mixture as there is a green glow too. I’ll see if I can lay my hand on my old beads of that colour to compare. I’m not sure when those flatter shaped beads appeared or if there are some vintage ones that shape:confused:
