Can someone explain why this is worth so much? Someone just offered me $500 for it, but we like to let auctions end when we start them. Thanks for any info.

All I could find was that Japan started Coca Cola vending machines in 1962, so maybe a first year bottle?

I know absolutely nothing about your bottle, however I have been selling on eBay for 18 years & in my experience it is usually best to let the auctions run till the scheduled ending.

There is obviously great interest in this bottle as is evidenced by the number of bids & the number of watchers.

JMHO thank them for their interest in your listing & tell them you hope they are the top bidder when the auction ends.

Appears to be in excellent condition, so maybe that's what makes it stand out for collectors of Cokeiana?

  4. Thanks for affirmation, we like the traffic a good item can bring, too!

  5. It is very clean, one reason I picked it up at local estate sale.

I was surprised at the auction on Friday that a vintage ? Coke sign still brought some spirited bidding. It seems there are still folks out there who are actively seeking stuff for their collections.

It will be interesting to see what it ends up selling for in the end.

$500. seems to be more than twice current e.b. price, I'd take the 500 and run and don't look back! I have several special edition coke bottles all of which aren't worth much more than payed for years ago.

  8. $810 finish...whoa! Thanks for info.

    Talk about about happy outcomes!

I didn't mean clean so much as all the lettering looking intact & unscratched & mouth unchipped. Imagine most got pretty knocked around.

I learned a valuable lesson, because I have accepted offers before my auction ended

Like I said earlier, it is usually the best idea to let it ride especially if there are lots of watchers. An increase of $550.00 in the last 6 seconds of the auction. :jawdrop::jawdrop::jawdrop:

I really have to agree. Never end auctions early. An offer is almost always an indication that an item is under-priced. I did have one gentleman who contacted me about a bottle I had for $19.99. He gave me the opening bid and offered me $45 to end early as I remember. It would have completed a small collection he had. I just told him I did not end auctions early as it was not fair to others who might want to bid. I wished him the best of luck, and told him I hoped the item came in under his offer. Sure enough, the bottle ended at $19.99. I gambled and lost but I had a very happy buyer and kept my reputation as an honest seller. :) It may be something where you lose a little but don't regret.
