I recently purchased this carved wooden horned goose. I haven't had any luck finding pictures of anything like this online. Does anyone know a possible country/culture of origin, approximate date of creation, or where this type of object would be found? Temple? House?

    Thanks in advance!

Your goose was probably made in Indonesia, within the last 30 years or so.

Beautiful. It is from Bali, Indonesia. Judging from the kind of gold paint used, I'd say at least mid-century.
It is difficult to see if the other paint has been 'antiqued' with shoe polish, something some carvers/painters did in the 1950s. If it has aged naturally it could be older. These carvings were often kept outside on patios, so exposed to the elements.
Either way, it is a quality piece.

It could be a duck, like this Balinese late Art Deco courting couple:

Does it like bananas?:playful: (Pisang in Indonesian)

Thanks for the information! I love it! I got it for a steal at an estate sale. It looks like it’s carved from one solid piece of wood. I think parts of it may have been plastered over before painting(?). Here are a few detail shots:

Yes, it is like a primer, so the paint doesn't flake off every time there is a change in temperature or humidity.

Could you please post the photos directly in the thread? imgur doesn't want to be not on speaking terms with me.:playful:
