Featured What is this weapon? Blown glass…

Hi!
This weighs a ton!!! Lol. I don’t think it’s cheap Chinese stuff but WTHDIK? The bottom is ground down nicely which I thought was a good sign. Not bullicante or controlled bubbles, right? It has an open center but not deep enough for a vase and no places to put cigars/cigarettes! It’s approx 4.5” tall x 6.5” across and super thick.

We have several of these - paperweights, though none of ours has a "punt" or that shape. Most are egg shaped. But the style is right in line with ours. Try "English Glass Paperweights" search to see if you find anything close.

As an aside, Chinese doesn't mean cheap or badly made, there's rubbish made on Murano and good made in China.

 

And China has a very long history of excellent glass making.
Some Chinese glass was even copied in Europe, like Bohemian 'Peking glass'.

 

Absolutely. I've some gorgeous old Chinese weights.

 

Good knowledge. Most people talk poorly about blown glass things from China. This is a new point of view. I have seen crazy beautiful objects from their country. I own a few in my China cabinet, just not glass.
