Russian brass samovar, info pleaseplease

I know less about samovars than I do about jewelry if that's possible, but Ebay has nearly 500 of 'em listed here: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fro...an+samovar.TRS0&_nkw=russian+samovar&_sacat=0
Maybe take a look there and see if there isn't one like yours and see what the owner says about it in his/her description.

 

This is a handsome piece! Too bad it isn't a complete samovar set with tray that are usually keyhole in shape and possibly a bowl. Some had a teapot sitting on top, but not sure if the style of yours did. Following is a pretty good Russian Samovar website. You might wander around to see if you can spot one like yours.

As you already know this has Russian brass/copper markings/stamps, which date it before the Russian revolution. One of the stamps is of a Czar's head that may be of Tzar Alexander II. Nowww that certainly isn't definite as to his ID!! At the bottom of the following page are examples of the stamps:

Along with the Russian markings there is an inscription, 3rd pic. This inscription is probably telling of the awards the samovar maker/factory has won. At first I thought the inscription was for a presentation piece; however, presentation inscriptions would be very visible and not down around the markings, I think. I tried translating some of the inscription in the 3rd pic for it is the clearest pic, with not much luck. I can't translate Cyrillic writing; however, by going to a Russian typewriter site and typing in what may??? by the lettering of the 1st line then copying the results to Google Translator, it appears the 1st line of the 3rd pic has a date. The line may??? be something like this:

Устдвъ высочдйшЕ уте. 10 Дп (or Apn) 1898.

I couldn't translate the 1st or 3rd word. The 2nd word "высочдйшЕ" translates to "Highest." The last 1/2 of the line is obviously a date of 10 April (or August) 1898. As of now I haven't tried any of the other lines. There are a couple of people here who can work through the language a bit. Hopefully they will drop in with some help.

I can see the fourth photo the best. Right now I'm on a slow internet connection and have plans for the day. So this will be brief. I'm not near real dictionaries and can decipher a little but need to use online translation. I see lines that say "Товарищество / Паровой Самоварной Фабрик" -- Am not sure if the two lines go together or not... they translate to "Association of steam samovar factories"

At the bottom, I think I see that this was made in Tula, which is or was a major place where samovars were made. Here is some general info. Have not looked at it for any usefulness:

This looks similar. Would need to be translated from Russian. Run it through Google translate and it will probably be good enough.

An eBay user messaged me through eBay about a samovar today. If it was you, @flipperguy , I strongly recommend that you start your own thread here about your samovar, as @i need help recommended. There are native Russian speakers who visit here sometimes and can help.
