    Hi all,
A couple of things I need help with.
    any information is appreciated
    thanks for looking:)
#1 is a gold ring, marked 14K, no stones. The part where the stones were is a silver colour, no mark to say sterling so I don't know what it is - how do I determine the weight of just the gold, the ring weighs 2.63g

#2 are chains. The first one is marked 10K on the spring clasp thing and bracelet end. Mixed colours - is it all gold? What is this type of chain called, it is several twisted together, looks like the letter 'S'

The white metal could be just about anything. They used rhodium, platinum, etc. If you are scrapping this, I don’t think you need to worry what the exact amount of gold on the ring is. Whomever is purchasing will make their own assessment on make an offer from there

On the 2nd item you need to test it with acid to be sure what you have if you don’t think the mark on the clasp matches.

Not sure what to call the fancy link on the third item. Hope some of this helps

    thanks @gauntlettgems , very helpful:)
For the ring, according to the silver recyclers site, $124.24 CDN is what the weight works out to. I'm going to sell locally, should I list it at 1/2 that amount of money? Sorry, I've never had something like this to scrap before.

    The second one is plaited.

I'd list the ring for two thirds scrap at least.

#2 is a S-link chain, most likely it is gold and would need testing.

Good to sell it Yourself,I've had scrappers, coin dealers & jewelry folks here really low-ball me .I beleive a few of our UK people get a much higher price over there for gold at least.

If you list it, take into account the outrageous selling fees

The spring in the clasp of #2 is steel.

Plaited = braided. Not auto-correct for plated. Just in case. It could easily be multi-tone gold. It's often possible to search payout rates for gold scrap for different companies; someone may well have researched the local ones for you already.

Yup, the individual strands are S link, the whole is plaited/braided.

I can get close to spot for scrap. Sometimes over.

thanks for all the replies folks:)
I wish I could get that bear, here the pawn shop offers 1/4 of scrap price.

No, I won't list this on EBay. The spring thing is marked 10K, why would you think it is steel?

The spring inside would be steel no matter what the rest of the clasp is made of :)

Blimey, even the worst pawns here give more than that.

It's at least 60% here, which is bad enough. Usually 70%, and sometimes better if it's an older piece and you can take it to an antique dealer.
