Chinese / Japanese Tea Bowls?

Hi any idea what these specifically are, are they chinese or Japanese and any idea of thw writing? Thanks

 

Wish I could help. Looks Japanese, but I'm not certain. One could say with certainty that they're southeast Asian.

 

I vote for Japanese, although I can't find a complete match for the mark.

 

Hi Kevin, these are Chinese wine goblets, historically / traditionally used for drinking rice wine - however these days there's equal chance they could be used for enjoying an Australian Shiraz.
Re writing - these are Mandarin characters ' qi fen ' the top 'qi' is a Guzheng Chinese: Plucked String instrument and the bottom 'Fen' is mountain - ' Guzheng played on a mountain '.

Hey there Komokwa - Sake is more Japanese spirit vs Chinese rice wine, as in whisky versus wine/cider/beer different, different distilling processes, potencies etc. Chinese wine historically was not as strong as sake, therefore the goblets are larger than the traditional sake kind of shot glass size, although now with Chinese rice wine there's a wider range alcohol content .. cheers
