    Greetings,
I purchased this brooch and have yet to figure out What was meant to depict.
It's my "What's It" item. LOL.
Friends have chimed in, saying it is a Shooting Gallery Bird, a Hunting Decoy Bird, etc...
The bird appears to have been sliced down it's center and filled with a hard resin.
I don't know what it is. Your guess is as good as mine.
On a serious note, should someone know what this bird brooch is, I would appreciate any information.
    It's 6 a.m., in Honolulu, and I've been up 18 hours.
It is time to Take Flight and rest.

It might be a miniature mill weight or gate weight. It's got a Scandinavian feel to it, but the rod coming out of the back makes it look like a piece of folk art farm equipment.

Swan. And to me, it looks rather Danish.

The point of being an artist is you can make things look however you like and even (shudder) make things up.

    It does look pretty modern.

Is it possible that there is a missing wing - once extended from the hollowed portion to the end of the extension bar?

Hi, I simply do not know. What I find most interesting about piece, is the vertical attachment. Carnivals once had similar birds in their shooting galleries. As mentioned, friends have said it reminds them of decoy ducks. Why would the maker slice the bird open and fill it with a type of resin?
This piece is definitely a "What's It."
Sincere Thanks to All Whom Responded.
