I am relatively new to this.....my husband is in the Navy and when he goes out to sea on the sub I started going to my local shop and finding pieces to re-purpose or refinish and I am having tons of fun doing it so far!! I am trying to find out what this is....found it this weekend and fell in love with it! It is made by Irving & Casson - A.H. Davenport and numbered 10070....so curious hope someone out there knows :)

Greetings, Monique! I can't help with your furniture piece, but wanted to say hello!

I have a nephew who's a submariner in his 10th year "under." Where are you stationed?

Welcome. Not 100% sure, but your cabinet might have been used to hold sheet music.

    Greetings!

Possibly a cutlery cabinet, but they usually have felt liners and some sort of dividers to avoid scratching the silver. I'd tend to think sheet music or prints/drawings/folios.

    Greetings, Monique!

I have no idea what your cabinet was intended for originally ... but I'd line those shelves with anti-tarnish felt and use it to store jewelry! :)

Welcome! And aren't you going to have a jolly good time with the Olde English Furniture Polish!

Your cabinet looks to me as if it held paper of some kind - whether sheet music, theatre scripts, or books on spec...

    HI Welcome! :)
I'm a navy guy as well and my son served also on subs.
I'd like to know more by 'conversation' should you wish to do that off this post. :)

    Welcome, Monique!

I'm a little behind in my reading this Introductions thread and won't be able to say "welcome" to all of the new people who posted.

Oh, and... although your cabinet may need some TLC, it looks like something I could use.

    @Figtree3

Which brings to mind a question I would like to ask, if I may be so bold - How do you store all of your photographs? Of course if you would rather not share that we can only speculate on the two score 30 gallon Hefty bags with pink and yellow postit notes stuck to them, piled in your living room...................

Well I am not that old so my photos are digitally stored haha but I am OCD about cleaning no hefty bags in my living room

    Oooops!

I was actually directing that question to Fig (Figtree3) - when she commented "it looks like something I could use" I assumed it would be for her collection of old photos...........sorry for implying that you kept a bunch of hefty bags full of treasure laying about - I know not everyone lives as I do.............;)
