    hi folks

bought this today (£10) cause i rather like this type of pottery

no damage apart from 1 little chiparoo

i take it that its for transporting some kind of liquid

    do we think antique ?

i hate the rope, want to remove it, but thought i better keep it on !!

    any info appreciated

Not antique, probably 1960s-70s from Provence. I bought mine near Fontvieille, just east of Arles, where it was made locally.
The rope is essential, so best leave it. It is missing a cork, which can be replaced. I believe it was used by shepherds and people working in the fields, for wine or water. They sell them as souvenirs now.
