Inuit Finger Pit Scraper-the one that got away

    Here's a piece we saw in the early 80's at the Native American Antiquities Show in Marin Co,California.It was unfortunately $250 (the same amount as our rent),so we had to let it go.I still think about it from time to time,and although I suppose we could afford it now-but Portugal,Spain & of course the greedy American God of Medicare comes first.
    This is an example I found online,the one we saw was carved out of fossilized bone (ivory ?) with a stone blade.Your fingers fit in the grooved troughs.Used to scrape hide. SCRAPER.jpg
