I have mentioned that I find good deals around here because people don't know what they have. A Premier design necklaces will go for $5 while a pair of sterling brooches go for 50 cents a piece. I am interested in age mostly. I would like to sell all of these pieces if they are worth it . All of these I paid less than $2 recently at the rummage sale . The two sterling brooches $.50 a piece. I am trying to learn so I am including my guesses. Thank you for any information.

1)Mother of pearl and rolled gold with s brooch is missing pin on hinge of c clasp. no marks 1920"s

    2) brass and turquoise horseshoe brooch 1.5 " c clasp . origin? 1930's?
    3) brown Cloisonné 30" fish hook clasp says silver but is gold colored and i think the wire separating the enamel is silver. age?
    4) two sterling brooches with rhinestones. Have early hand crafted safety clasps( I think) were these kilt pins? 1900-1910? the clasp on the blue stoned one as RF marked.
    5) mother of pearl choker. 1900? some pieces missing.

I’d have scooped all those up too! Great lot.
Look up Miriam Haskell for the mother of Pearl necklace. I have a similar one that someone on here ID’d for me.I don’t know if it’s exactly the same but worth following up. I’ll see if I can find the post.

When I researched the mother pearl necklace that is what i came up with as well. I just wasn't sure. 1930?

The horseshoe looks like it's maybe 1910s/20s. The B pin is an old Victorian button converted to a brooch when it was relatively new. The cloisonne findings are silver with a gold wash. Those two bar pins look like they're 1910s too. I'd have snagged them too.

Lots of Chinese clasps have a gold wash/vermeil but are just marked silver I’ve noticed. How big are the sterling brooches? They look small, maybe lingerie pins? Maybe not. Just a thought.

I had a thought he S pin was converted from something but never thought about a button I would have liked it even better as a Button! Thank you everyone for your input. I have a few more batches to post. It just takes me awhile to post the pictures since I have to resize them. I never miss that rummage sale and I always go right for the jewelry! I have also not taught anyone about what they don't know!

I was going to sell the pins but they are the only brooches I have come across with that type of clasp. I may save them long enough to educate my granddaughters (9&11). I am trying to show them how to spot quality jewelry.

Those clasps are early safety clasps, first used in the 1890s. They are not a sign of quality per sé.

The two bar brooches look like Halley's comet brooches to me :cat:
    Nice score anyhow!

Not kilt pins. They do look comet.

I've either got or have had woven MOP necklaces like that, never found who made them though.

I understand they were hand made by jewelers before mass manufactures began making them some where after 1910?

Yep. It was a hot design for a while. I've never seen them in person, but now I keep an eye out.

Horseshoe nails would make sense. Just like the horse shoe brooch was in style. Is this the time period they all rode around the parks socializing on horseback?
