Can someone help me identify the style of this secretary? Maybe the maker?

This would pre-date the main thrust of the arts and crafts movement in America. It is transitional before the movement found a stronger voice in Stickley, et al. It is perhaps an alternate expression of the movement that never quite took hold.

Look what came in to the shop this week......

Appears to be missing brass mounts (or maybe some applied carvings) at the upper two corners and believe this has been stripped and lightened. Not quite as arts and crafts as the other examples but would contend this still fits within the early prairie school genre. Have seen the term Romanesque Revival used on the internet since starting to search for more examples. Could certainly fit with this piece.

I’m back in Maine now, and have been researching off and on over the last year via Google images. It’s not very productive! :)

What’s so frustrating for me is that I’ve come across similar leg styles in the past, but now I can’t find Examples online!!!

Thanks as always to everyone! If I find a match I’ll post it!!!

    Whalerman,
There are definite Art Nouveau design elements to your desk. It wasn't very popular in the US, so we don't see it much here. Try including that search term.
