Saw this today & like it a lot, but I can't find artist & even though the store manager agreed to go down to $75, I don't want to spend that much without checking here first.
    Anyone know the artist?
    Thoughts on painting?
    Thanks; any info is appreciated.

What's your purpose? To hang? Or resale?

I wouldn't pay 30.00 bucks for it but that's just me.

Not a factory painting. Not one I would buy.

It's certainly a confidently-painted amateur Mid-Century work. But at $75 retail, not sure how much profit -- if any -- there would be in it for you and market narrow (as shipping cost for artwork high.)

This could be the start of an interesting thread. Keep posting images of two paintings and we can all vote on which one is worse. This one is a tough call but I'll go with the musician.

I must say that your area thrift shop has much better artwork than I find locally. That said... their pricing is "healthy" and doesn't give much (if any) margin for resale.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Call me crazy (no, really, don't do that)... but I like the second one. The quirky aspects, mostly. It's possibly the same Robert Draper who is listed in this Florida Artist Group traveling exhibition 1966-1967 brochure. https://floridaartistsgroup.org/flag-history-pdf/17th-Circuit-FLAG-Exhibition-Catalogue4-1966.pdf
His name is listed under those from Miami in the fifth image. However, none of his paintings are in the examples printed in the brochure.

And also Robert S. Draper was an artist involved with the Florida Artist Group in this brochure from the 1950s.
    https://floridaartistsgroup.org/history-pdfs-2/FLAG-1955-1956E.pdf

There are several brochures online mentioning him. He was at least locally known, if the same person who did the picture in the original post.

ADDED: I looked through about 10 brochures or so. Robert Draper only exhibited in 2 or 3 of the exhibitions. None of his paintings were reproduced in the brochures, but their titles and prices were listed. This was in the 1950s-1960s. I also found a couple of mentions online of a "Robert S. Draper Collection" of art works, but haven't found more information about it except for its existence.

    OK, that might be enough!

Thanks - they are still there (no surprise with those prices!) & I'll wait till it really drops or just let them go
