    Welcome to the forum, Bill!

Hmmmm.... not sure what you mean by "princess." Is the crown engraving for something Princess like a cruise line?

    >...was made in 898 year... <

The markings do not have a Mappin & Webb date letter, soooo it will be difficult to specifically give it a year date. I believe the best you can do is only give this a time frame of 1863-1898. If you scroll to the bottom of the following page you will see a chronology of the name Mappin & Webb. The name of only "Mappin & Webb" was used from 1863 to 1898. Before 1863 the company's name was Mappin & Co. and after 1898 the company's name changed to Mappin & Webb Ltd.

I believe the "a" is a quality symbol for the silver plate used. On the following page scroll down to the section "Quality Symbols." There you will see the quality symbols of A1, A, B1, B, C .... "A = Standard Quality = 24 grams on 12 pieces = 2 grams per table spoon or table fork."

I'd be lucky to get £10 for it. The crown is probably a brand mark, like Crown Hotels. Value depends far more on where you are and who you are selling to than the actual item, with this sort of thing.

The name for it is a tazza or comport. Some may call it a cake stand.

In my part of the USA you'd be lucky to sell it at all. Silver plated items have to be given away, more or less. I see it at estate sales and church sales and all those pieces do is sit.

Plate doesn't do well in my area (New England.) That crown has fleur-de-lis in it so it may have been made for a French hotel or restaurant. I'm sorry to say I don't think you'll find much interest. You could give it a gentle polish to see if it looks better.
