Very rare vase designed by Karl Kipp. This has sold for over $10K in the past. While the condition on this is pretty bad, it might not take too much to put this right.

That explains it a bit. Thanks, Brad!

I maybe have missed it I didn't see the seller note Karl Kipp on this, so buyers must be on the lookout.

I wonder if the seller had any idea? Bidding started at $9.99.

Seller knew. This is one of those rare Roycroft items that is pictured in the books. Roycroft has a following since it is plentiful and varied enough to build a diverse collection. It is almost always marked. The Karl Kipp designed items are the rarest and, arguably, the best of design.

Interestingly, there are rarer arts and crafts copper items that don't bring nearly as much. Being too rare, they are not as well known or collected. They are not always as well marked. It takes a specialized collector to know and appreciate the some of the better material. I am sure this is true in a lot of collecting categories.

Definitely applies to cameos. And signed ho-hum pieces generally sell for more than anything that is not signed, no matter how beautiful.
