Dollars to donuts the vase is middle-eastern or Indian. I'm thinking Persia; they did a ton of metalwork like that.

The flask is genuine. It is circa 1850. Probably made in a South Jersey glassworks. Maker unknown.

It is cataloged as GX-15 in American Glass by McKearins, the Bible for flask collectors.
It is a pretty common flask but it certainly is remarkable it survived and found it's way onto a thrift shop shelf. Miracles do happen. Even though common this great little piece of early American glass is still worth around fifty bucks. Nice find.

Thanks for the confirmation, Skeez! Wouldn't you know ... have that book ... and searched for it there ... but gave up somewhere around 'scroll flasks' - if only I had stuck with it for a few more pages! ha ha

This thrift shop is my favorite ... where I found a Lownes coin silver mug, a six-board chest, a couple of large Venini pieces, Steuben, Hawkes, Lalique. Daum .... etc. (most at under $10.00!)

My dream is to walk in and find a set of Chihuly baskets :)

Great. that song will now be running through my head for the rest of the evening. ;) Cool hat.

Can't read the spoon (glasses further than arm's length away) Is it silver?

Sorry for the earworm...I know some tricks for getting rid of them; just replace with a different one.....like that one about Gilligan.....

    Hi,
You can clean your hat with corn meal. Place hat and three or four tablespoons of corn meal into a paper bag. Shake for at least three or four minutes let rest for an hour and shake it again really hard. Take the hat out and blow it with a cool hair dryer for several minutes. It really takes the dirt and dust out of your hat.

    Hi King,
Polish your spoon it will last longer. My batteries are dead in my camera or I would show you the eight spoons mailed from the WF still in their original boxes.
I found 8 of them in Hoboken mailed to a lady. They cost 1½ cents each to mail.

It's plated so be gentle on the cleaning. It's primary value is in the collectibilty of 1939 World's Fair memorabilia, of course.

Wouldn't any remaining bits of corn meal attract bugs? Hate the thought of them nesting in a fur hat!

SpoonPlanet website has a little info on 6 of these New York World Fair Buildings spoons. Seems there was a series of 12 of them: New York City exhibit building, Consumer Interests Building, United States Goverment Building, Marine Transportation Building, Food Exhibition Building, Aviation Building, Railroad Transportation Building, Georgian Station Section in Court of the State Building, Hall of Medicine, Public Health Building, Administration Building, New York State Amphitheater Building and Textile Building.

Scroll down to the section: New York World Fair Buildings. The end of the section, bottom of page, tells about the series of 12.

    Thank you!!! :)
I do agree it with the author in that it was a lousy stamping effort. Didn't they want these buildings seen?
    Rogers proud of this?
Had to be some shysting going on there for what buyer would accept them...really. :p
