Is the second picture a closeup of the underside of the runner in the first picture? If so, neither has the obvious "foundation" seen on most machine made rugs, so my first guess would be hand done. Of course, this is from pictures and not under foot. A close, on the knees, inspection might inspire a different opinion.

My guess on age is sometime in the past 35-40 years at most. A lot of what was available to buy new during that time frame was made in Pakistan because of the embargo on Iranian products. I have one of those that still has it's "Handwoven in Pakistan" label on the back. It also has the same treatment for the fringe ends (which frankly I have never seen on an older "real" Persian/oriental rug.)

Now, it's also possible one or both were made in China. I also have a Chinese-made rug from the 80's with the same kind of fringe. But I don't know much about what kind of designs the Chinese were making, other than the one I have which has a very "Chinese" design.

    JMHO, as usual.
