At my closest thrift found a beautiful little vase from local northern Virginia potter Bill Schran. ( for 59c - would have paid a lot more).

Slightly. It happens. I tell myself the person ought to have checked or may just not have cared. Some people just want it gone and if the other guy gets a good deal, that's a bonus. If it's off a dealer who really ought to have known better, double bonus.

One of my favorite finds today. A little Victorian brooch with opals and seed pearls. I don't think it's pure gold, but I wonder if the little stone in the center is a ruby...

I love the colors in this!
Are they costume pearls or real?

The seed pearls and the ones with the oval clasp aren’t real but a nice bit of coral and possibly jade beads?. The ones with the flat clasp I don’t think so but no flaking. They are signed something like By Moxie?. 50p each so I’m not complaining!

Some of my stuff from yesterday. The pink optic glass was $3 at a yard sale. Not marked, but I'm guessing Japanese. There's also a perfume bottle pendant shaped like a hip flask, a CZ station choker with a 10k mark the antique dealer missed, some earrings that remind me of something Southeast Asian, and a medal from a 25 mile road race in 1892. And yes, that's the unicorn from the Boston Athletic Association aka the guys who now do the Boston Marathon. The marathon didn't exist yet. The ring is silver and probable lucite. The morris dancer shoes are hallmarked for Birmingham 1994. The lousy picture is an art deco crystal necklace that's just marked Germany.

That makes me feel better about paying £3 today for these two necklaces and the amber looking ones ( don’t know what they are).
9ct gold and diamonds and 9ct gold diamond and opal- does it look real?. I don’t know about opals.
Bought from a regular at the car boot sale who always has lots of jewellery but usually nothing of much value. I don’t think he had even looked closely to see what he had!. He said he’d do me a good deal but I didn’t realise it would be that good!

    Rest of today’s finds.
Green glass beads with sterling clasp.
Amber bead and necklace that fluoresce under UV.
    Broken 925, CZ tennis bracelet.
Pink glass beads with vermeil clasp.
    Odd little ship.
    Black Bakelite or something bangle.
Kramer brooch- need to google this.
Fab modernist white metal bracelet- live any input on this?.
Lovely little collection of early brooches. Tiny one is Amber, marcasite is silver, enamel one is a bit of a dogs dinner but I like it- needs some restoration and tlc.
    Some bugs :)
And a stunning art glass ? Brooch. Photo doesn’t do it justice as it looks green under artificial light, I will take a pic in the daylight. Cheap surround but the glass is amazing- real depth to it in cream with gold flecks like glitter.
    A good weekend hunting!

Okay, that hip flask perfume pendant is the coolest thing EVER. Is that a lava cameo?

Yup, real opal, congratulations! I would loupe it to make sure there are not cracks.

Wow, you certainly did have some lovely finds. I particularly like the brooch with the tiny pearls, turquoise and other stones. Is it silver?

Yes it’s silver. It’s pretty but don’t you think the designer couldn’t quite decide what to do with it so chucked everything in?. To me it looks quite unusual to have enamel mixed with the stones?. But what do I know!. Under a loupe the pearls are very pretty although one looks different. C clasp so it’s quite elderly. Stones are held in by the silver surround not by glue.

I wonder if it might be Austro-Hungarian...

I hope so. The flask wasn't dirt cheap, but it was too funny to pass up. The top screws down and it has a little dipper thingie.

It looks like older than dirt. I think Barn Owl is dead on.

Being really naive here, what is the significance of it being Austrian-Hungarian?. How old is older than dirt?!

Edit- just googled. I see what you mean. The enamel and the stones.

I got nuthin' this week that compares to the above goodies. I had to make a choice of going to a church sale or my flea market first, 40 mins. apart. I chose incorrectly the church sale. They do one every single month, but I didn't know that. But I got these at the church sale, not too cheap, but not too dear.

As hot as it was at my flea market, and there were very few vendors, I saw I missed some jewelry by what was left. And a lady with a big canvas tote was hitting everything right before me. But.... this guy set up late. I did snag this Betsey Johnson necklace from his dollar table.
