This is my last purchase: the small ( with 17 inches diameter), unexpectedly very, very heavy mirror, described by the seller as late 19th century brass mirror. I would like to know more about this pattern, or maker, or place of origin, but there is no visible marks ( or maybe I don't know, where to look for). Do you have any idea, where I should start?
    Thanks in advance! 20190707_080503-01_resize_33.jpg 20190707_080537-01_resize_69.jpg 20190707_080541-01_resize_77.jpg 20190707_080611-01_resize_22.jpg 20190707_080658-01_resize_95.jpg 20190707_080826-01_resize_79.jpg

I don't really know anything other than that the figure on top is Pan. 'Ormolu' is a particular method of gilding & may not be what this is, but suspect similar pieces get described that way. Looking for 'antique round beveled mirror ormolu gilt Pan' did not turn up a match, just this sort of thing:

Many seem to be described as French.

I love him - he'd fit right in at my place. Is that ring on the back anything like strong enough to support the weight?

Thanks! I was looking for something similar with different phrases, and like you, I didn't find nothing what would remind me this one I have. I thought also about victorian piece because of brass and ornaments, but still know nothing.
The ring is very strong, like all back support, I just have to think where I will hang it on, because my first choice wall isn't too strong for this, I suppose)

I would agree with the date being late 1800s to 19teens.

I've just wonder, is it a mercury glass? Looking at the distance between coin and reflection, it seems to be for me. And if it's a mercury glass, is it possible, that it was then made before 1840? After that time making this kind of glass was forbidden. But I don't know. 20190707_092555_resize_57.jpg

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

I love the head of Pan at the top. I would have bought it, too, if I saw it.
