Dating a cedar chest

Wow - thanks for the conformation and support on the effort! I did enjoy my research gathering, doubly more with the quick feedback from the forum. Recently retired, my husband has me on a mission to purge, whether passing on to a family member or putting up for sale. But won't part with anything without first knowing what I've got!
On the retail side, Facebook Marketplace came through for me during COVID when moving my folks out of their home of 56 yrs. If you've got any go-to furniture marketplace, or any advice on marketing/selling, please pass along. Thanks, again.

You might do a bit better in Joliet since closer to Chicago.

Maybe you all have this answer... Would the stamped number refer to a chest model or to the lock?

 

Probably a model number for the chest.

man that's one sweet ride-look at the trim on that sheen,I'd like to turn that grill into our budoiur's headboard,haven't seen whitewalls like that since i got a 'flatbush trim' at Wally's Barbershop in 62'.
