Maybe sterling angels plaque

i bought this a year or two ago and ran across it again today. It has a couple Raphael cherubs and a rather sloppily applied gold leaf. The frame is all glued together.

I’m not familiar with that 2 DIV 3g Mark. There’s a 925 and something almost illegible. For all I know it’s plastic.

The metal bit is about 3 x 1-3/4” (7.5 x4 cm)

 

Makes one wonder.
The R 2 div 3g is so clear. Yet the other which is probably the maker, (as I think I see CO at the end), then the 925 silver mark are both too blurry.

Thanks! So it is actually some kind of plastic with a thin (0.1 to 0.15 Oz) coating of silver. That explains the carefree nature of the detailing and the obscure mfg mark.

I do wonder why they have such a rough accounting of the actual silver content?

The 'Decreto Legislativo 22 Maggio 1999, n. 251' introduced a system of marks for objects made in precious metals and weighted with resin or mastic. The new mark is a R inside a square outline (the R is the abbreviation of 'Riempito' = filled in English).

This piece was created in a resin or mastic then covered with 3 to 5 grams of 925 standard silver as shown by 3 ÷ 5

 

Probably 1990s when those Raphael cherubs began to be widely reproduced.
