It doesn't have any marks at all. I hate to list it as "unknown." 2 1/2" to the top of the cover.

    Hi,
I gave several sets of teapots, cups plates to my SIL. My favorite one was an ablong soup tureen. These were the German ones not the later Japanese ones
they used to be abundent but you rarely see them now.

    Hi Bev,
Forgot to say that I was told that the ones without people were German but that could have been "an urban ledgeland" geeeesh I do miss spellcheck. lol

Probably belonged to a child's tea set or "toy" tea set. I'm thinking Japanese, but could be German. Likely mid 20th c. JMHO!

I was thinking Japanese also, because of the poor transfer of the pattern. Also the bottom wasn't finished as nice as I would have thought a German one to be. The lid inside ring appears rough.

However, the handle looked too nice to be Japanese.
    But I am only guessing.

It's interesting that a couple of posts said Germany. The people whose house it was lived in Germany for several years. Which doesn't mean a thing because they could have purchased it anywhere. We got a bunch of German steins and other things, though. I listed it at a modest price and I'll let a potential buyer decide where it's from. Thanks. I lost my password so I couldn't get on the site for a couple of days and I was suffering withdrawal!
