fired clay caricature

    Came across this the other day and was wondering if anyone has seen anything like it. It is very heavy and well made with a mix of glossy and dull textures (even in the split area so must have split before firing ), I'm not sure what you call it (porcelain, pottery etc) The signature looks like Nancy or something like that. I've seen some older black themed items command a hefty premium but not even sure how old it is. (got it at a yard sale for a buck) Any info would be helpful. BTW it stands 9 inches tall and about 5 inches wide at the feet.

    Age I'd put at late 20th C.

    With ebay banning Golliwogg items, I can see them really wetting themselves to ban that one.

    I do suspect it is not all that old and designed to catch the 'Black Americana' market.

    I don't give a fig about racial stereotypes but that is just so butt ugly!

    I agree 100% but I seem to be attracted to ugly! I may keep it and put it next to the battle flag LOL. BTW whats a Golliwogg? scratch that I looked it up, never knew the name for that stuff.
