One with a Navy Pilot insignia sold on eBay, which they refer to as Vintage Post WWII http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Pos...-10K-Yellow-Gold-Pilot-Insignia-/131550734103
Terry, darling, would you mind laying it out straight and taking a photo so we can see the whole thing at one go? I'm going to suggest sweetheart jewelry as well, but I'd like to see it flat.
It's tiny. Wonder if it was part of a sweater guard. Most times the clips were fancy, but sometimes the chains themselves were fancy. Example:
I think it is a broken bracelet................Uris (out of NY) made a lot of military and fraternal jewelry - I have no idea if they are still in business.
I can't find much on the company, but they were still around in 1967 when they were involved in a legal issue (court case) with the Federal Government........
I think it would be awkward to wear as a bracelet unless the length was very close to the circumference of a person's wrist? For that reason, I was thinking it might be the bottom section of choker.
There are women with very tiny wrists, literally can meet a man's thumb and forefinger around them and maybe this was modified for a daughter too....
And that is the long and short of it -- no clasp. Without a clasp even someone with a wrist small enough to wear it could not get it over his/her hand to put it on.
The one Mansons found on eBay says 7 inches.....has the clasp and airmans wings instead of an anchor .....so while they made more than one model , this one does seem to be missing length .
Interesting you should say that, KingofThings -- one of the ways to measure body "parts" to classify an overall physical "build"/anatomical standard was to measure the circumference of a wrist just behind the "knobby" wrist bone on the outside of each wrist. Wrist measurements (along with other measurements) aid in determining whether a person is "naturally" (as in "born with") an endomorph or ectomorph or mesomorph body. The "old" standard for "beauty" used to be that a woman should be able to get her thumb and middle finger around her wrist.
