    Front.JPG Side.JPG Side.JPG Hello,
I got this at auction, not knowing what it was,for more $$ than I wanted to pay until I saw what people are trying to get for them on eBay.
Is anyone familiar with these, and if they are sought after and by whom?
I would like to get rid of it, but have yet to come across someone who can give me a solid asking price.
    Here are a couple pictures.
    Thanks for any info!!!

    welcome Rich.
This is not generally a site for price information , but once we figure out what it is and where it came from and when it was made , that'll help narrow down a value.

So, any marks on the underside ?

Hello, and thank you for the welcome!
I've just arrived at work so I will have my wife check for markings as soon as she gets home.
Do these pieces general have markings or tags on the bottom? Thanks

Welcome, richaf. You can compare yours and see asking and sold prices all over the web. When you search, though, be sure to use the correct spelling - panetiere.

Sometimes yes , sometimes no.....but to get to the bottom of things you have to check everything possible !

Nope, no markings. I will take a look myself as well, but as of right now, no markings at all.

would YOU keep your bread/ cheese/ speck in something that allows the mice to pass easily between the bars ? not me.
looks rather like a pigeon cage.

I think it looks good, but I have a hard time imagining a domestic use for it. Maybe to hold wood for a fireplace? If there's a European style bakery in the area, they might be interested.

Panetieres were intended to be hung on a wall - as already mentioned, they've been reproduced for a long time, they were a hot item around here in the 1990s, showing up in shops featuring 'French Country' decorative items...
