Should have caught that, but if the Monet clasp had been original the neclace would have had to be 10 years later than the original. I'm not sure I'd put something like this on eBay these days. Monet would be fine, but a rare piece like this would be too risky. It should probably go to a real auction house where the scamwads and shipping are the auction house's problem. The seller gets their money.

The pendant necklace is shown on page 237 of Julia C. Carroll's "Collecting Costume Jewelry 202". According to the write-up the "Egyptian-style tri-color enameled pendant" which is shown on a "snake chain" was "produced in the mid-1970s to commemorate the first U.S. tour of artifacts from King Tut's tomb (1976 - 1979)."

The pendant is shown again in her "Collecting Costume Jewelry 303" book on page 300. There was also a 1 1/2" scarab pin & a 7" bracelet shown in the photo.

According to the write-up, there was also "a large scarab pendant, a scarab bracelet & a bird pin" made as part of this group.

She does not mention this necklace.

She's wrong about that being the first tour. It was a more comprehensive collection than the one of some of the signature items, including the famous gold mask, I saw in the mid-60s.

Here is a completed scarab pendant listing.

There was another large scarab pendant that sold in an auction listing for $264.00 last May.

There was a pair of clip earrings that had the same coloring that sold in an auction listing last May for $147.50 & last July for $187.50. The upper part of the earrings look to be shaped like the pieces in your necklace with circle dangles.

The bird brooch sold in July in an auction listing for $86.99.

The small scarab brooch sold for $210.00 in an auction listing last May.

The touring exhibit that started off at the Met in 1976 is the one people seem to remember. I don't know how many cities the one that came through about 10 years before got to. I saw it in Detroit with my mother. Had the ankh pendant I bought in the gift shop for years. No one knew what an ankh was before then.

Amazing find, Mikey. Stunning, I'd wear that, elderly neck or not. Who is going to look at my neck with an eyecatching necklace like that anyway.:joyful:
    No, not low!:eek::stop::facepalm:

Wow, thanks to all of you for your interest.
@bercrystal I was researching and found this mark, the Crown Trifari with the copyright C was used from 1955 to 1969. So was it used in later years?
@Any Jewelry I trust your opinion very much, Thanks

My Lady & I saw the Tut Exhibition in 1979 in San Francisco. Here's an Oct.2008 Press Release by John E. Buchanan, director of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco-'The first Tut show in 1979 was one of the most popular exhibitions ever to be presented at the de Young.'
My Wife named our little Abyssinian kitten-'Selket',an Egyptian Goddess of Magic who protected the King's Canopic Chest.
Even though the figure was crafted primarily out of wood, gesso & gold gilt-she was apparently pretty powerful.
'Selket functions as a protector of the canopic equipment & as a guardian of the coffin. Her magic is documented in religious texts- it was she who battle the evil serpent Apophis, the enemy of the sun god. Her role was later expanded to that of a protectress of the dead and her varied functions even included aiding during childbirth. She is usually depicted as a human female.'

Now don't forget, you must go back to that store several more times in the coming days/weeks to see if they have the matching earrings. If they were to have them, you would probably pay more because the mark would likely be correct, LOL!

916Bulldogs-Again congrats ! Can I ask because of my weird curiosity-what type of store did you find this at a charity, mall, etc ?
I'm allways trying to track which types (genus) of stores are generally staffed by well-meaning ignoramuses (or staff who want to covertly shaft their employers).
Speaking of po'ed employees, there used to be a cashier at the local GW during Covid who'd repeatedly sell me stuff at a massive (undeserved inexplicable) discount.
He was a very stressed guy.
Last time I saw him there,he whispered to me-'I hate this f@#*n place !'. Never seen him there since.

(apparently his 'whisper' wasn't silent enough....sadly:jawdrop::rolleyes:)
