This hallmarked 4 ounce, 5 inch high cup is adorned with the emblem of the Edinburgh & District Motor Club Ltd. I assume the motto is Scots for hard forward, or in other words, full speed ahead. The style is a bit unusual for generic 'cups', they are usually more classical. Hallmark is about 1920, I will check that. (It is Birmingham 1927/8, 1903 seems a bit too early.)

Not for the scrapheap,as I rather like the shape.

The motto lead to a film of the 1925 Scottish Six Dat Reliability Trial. If you like old cars and motorcycles, you will like this 15 minute film, especially the refuelling at 7 minutes in where a chap is helping with one hand as an open jug of petrol is poured into a funnel, the other hand holding a lighted cigarette.

They were running on water then. Before the oil companies suppressed the technology.
