Nice score on the coral! Is the locket gold or gold-filled? I am a locket nut.

I also found some coral today, not as nice as the Victorian coral at all. I went to a community yard sale advertised in the paper, but it was LAST week. Oh well. There was a moving sale, and the lady had a lot of jewelry for a dollar. I picked out these, and she gave me the set for a dollar. I thought the earrings and necklace were both faux glass coral, but the necklace is the real deal. I have posted this on the jewelry thread because I have too many questions to ask about it.

Mediterranean red coral, late 19th-early 20th.
Yes! Khar Mohreh beads, made only in Qom, Iran. Not very old, those metal bead caps are a pretty recent addition. But the age doesn't really matter, they are sought after whatever the age.
The listings for my 1960s Khar Mohreh necklaces were removed by Etsy, btw.:( My mother bought them in the Netherlands in the 1960s and they have been here ever since. They have never seen the Islamic Revolution, and I could have set the shipping options to no USA, but Etsy wouldn't budge because Paypal was being difficult.

    Thanks!
Thank you. ☺ the locket is gold over 835 silver.
I've always liked these, so I'm happy I finally found my own.
    They're growing on me
Thanks for warning me. I don't want to risk having another listing removed, since I've had two listings removed previously. So I guess these will just become a part of my hoard.

Apologies for my ignorance but why does a piece of Jewellery need to be removed due to political reasons?- am I understanding that correctly or have I got the wrong end of the stick?.

Ebay won't allow Iran as a keyword. :(

Really?!. I had no idea. Not that I've ever neede to try. Wonder if that's only USA or UK as well?. Seems ridiculous for a bead necklace.

I'm betting it's due to the US/Iran trade embargo. Easier for Ebay (therefore Paypal) to shut it all down than to make exceptions for items that wouldn't be covered under the embargo.

Simply say Persian instead of Iran

    Today's little finds.
Love the parrot- don't know how old or what he's made of but looks a bit like sandy mortar under a loupe.string wrapped round legs under the plaster stuff. Heavy for the size.
Lots of beads- I love beads!
Cute pale blue scotty dog- again paint over plaster of some sort?.Think oldish catch on back.
Dear little Bambi brooch, excuse the pun.
    Odd celluloid cat head
    Peridot (?)earrings
Silver and enamel blue heart I'm going to repair.
    Little Amber bracelet.
Tortoiseshell or faux 925 clip earrings
Weird stone pendant- no idea what type.
Very odd red diamond glass lid?. No idea what it's off!
Two rings, one silver and clear stone eternity (20p!)and one Ruby or garnet and silver.

It has to do with the US trade embargo on Iran, as Jivvy said. Even if a necklace never enters the US, many things are paid through Paypal nowadays, so they rule the world.
It was Etsy, btw, not ebay. When you're in a small country like ours, ebay isn't worth it, since the listings of international sellers end up at the end of a long list.
If only it were that simple, but alas, it doesn't make any difference in my experience. Persian has also been removed.:(

I got one Persian piece through once; they must have been napping. I wonder where that leaves all the hand painted jewelry. Probably in my hoard.

I found this in my mail. My girlfriend in Fairbanks, AK, sent this to me for my birthday; I opened her package this morning. I absolutely love this bracelet! Marked silver, appears to be goldwashed, smoky quartz (9 stones), fits perfectly! Smoky Quartz Bracelet 1 (640x487).jpg Smoky Quartz Bracelet 2 (640x334).jpg
    Smoky Quartz Bracelet 3 (266x640).jpg
