Hello, all. I picked up this blue 8” vase today. It appears to be hand thrown with drippy glaze and very faint rings (towards the bottom, not very discernible). It is very similar on the bottom to a blue Bauer Matt Carlton fan vase I have, but the blue doesn’t quite match the shade or glossiness of my vintage Bauer.

The base looks similar to my Bauer too. Kentucky 1928 is handwritten on the bottom, along with another word I can’t make out. I know Bauer started in Kentucky but had left for LA before then.

My non expert online research suggests that this could be Bybee or Waco. I’ve seen examples of both with little flecks of glaze on the bottom as this one has. I looked at some older threads here, and some of you can tell the pottery from the color of the clay. It’s more yellow than red. It is glazed all the way on the inside.

Bot the top and bottom rims measure about 3.25” edge to edge.

I appreciate any thoughts as to origin. Thank you.

I found this one on Pinterest. It looks pretty much the same in my opinion. Its listed as Bybee. Screenshot_20190609-223712_Pinterest.jpg

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

I'm NOT good at identifying pottery, but see if this helps any with the name/s on the bottom.....may or may not!!!

Thanks. I saw some Bybee listings but those had maker’s marks.

If you read the link I posted, it states that early pieces were unmarked.

I see it. This blue is a little off from the Bybee Blue but that could be from the photos. I can’t make out what the other handwritten word is on the base.

The other words on your vase are "bought in".

This is Bybee or Cornelison of Kentucky. A lot of times you will see that blue blob of glaze on the bottom of their pottery.

Thanks. I couldn't make out what else was on the bottom other than Kentucky and 1928.
