Small Seascape

    The frame has some white spray and seems like some of it is on the canvas. Wonder if all that was done originally this way by the artist or whoever sprayed the frame was not careful.
    Can't read the siggy but probably European?

    That's a shame about the paint... I like this painting. It has a quiet elegance to it.

    Can't make out anything in the signature.

    White paint looks like overspray from another unrelated project nearby.

    I agree. If you paint the ceiling with emulsion paint and a roller the roller hairs shoot a fine spray everywhere. If it is emulsion paint it may just wash off.

    If not, one could change the frame and pretend the painting is called "Old Boat in Snow."

    When I was in the co-op gallery, the landlord had a guy come in to repaint the ceiling. He wasn't going to move any of our paintings. I covered them all with plastic. When he was done, the plastic all had this kind of paint spray on them, so I have to agree it was probably done with a roller.

    Sig could be Andy Bat. See little bat pic mixed in with the text?
