Well, yes, sort of. Don’t burn the candle at both ends. Dinna means don’t, and baith for both, usually Scottish words. Yer for your.
Think the makers spelling of candle is obviously wrong.

I just read that the "d" following an "n" is often dropped in Scottish dialects. One example given was canle.

 

Reminds me of motto ware.

I guess if you are saying copy, then there should be an original example it was made after?

 

Yes, or at least similar.

 

I did not mean I thought it was original Majolica motto ware, but they often had those "gramatically challenged" (for lack of a better explanation) sayings on them.

Here is another all pink one at home in Leven, Fife, KY8 Scotland. I suspect these date from 1900-1920. The glaze and crazing of both mine and the one posted earlier in 2019 on this thread are very like those found in late 19th century wares of the Scottish east coast (eg, Links or Methven) and centre belt (eg, Dunmore or Alloa). Scottish motto ware such as these candlesticks fell out of fashion in the 1930s.
