I bought these off a friend who found them in a storage unit he won at auction today. They are all signed by a Stanley D. / No Limit?
It also looks like they were done in '73 except one that's dated 2012 - also he puts the date as day/month/year instead of month/day/year - so probably not originally from America?

    Anyone know of him?
Any thoughts on the paintings? Could this be by a commercial artist? He's not just a week-end artist, right?
I paid $90 for the four of them - did I do OK?(!)

Thanks all, I appreciate any help.

I think all the Stanley D ones are 2012.

    Versace wasn't founded until 1978. That's a "12" for 2012.

Stanley must be European. I'd think a young art student or artist. These are all copies of somethin', except for the Surrealistic piece so that gives you a better idea of his skill and talent.

"Surreal lady" very reminiscent of the works of Frederick Haucke... except, ehhh, a little less nightmarish. Incidentally, word is that a treasure trove of "lost" Hauckes and Haucke studies will be coming up for sale or auction soon...

Maybe VL Nantua? Nantua like the crayfish sauce and the French town it was named after?
I know, I'm going on about food again.
If several paintings are taken off stretchers.....:shifty:

    Probably storage issues.

Though I don't recommend rolling them up for for the long term.

The first thing that came to my mind was the comic book artist Stan Lee, a.k.a. Stanley Martin Lieber, of Marvel Comics fame...Spiderman, X-men, etc. But the "D" after Stanley doesn't make any sense, so I guess not.

THAT would be the find of a lifetime (especially for a comic book collector like me!). :)

Stan was a genius in many ways, but he couldn't draw a stick figure...
