Don, thanks so much for the additional photos. It helped a lot and your replies and everyone else's are going to make me more comfortable listing things. :)

I probably should get an antiques mall booth for larger and heavier things. I have some framed art I'd love to sell but would never want to ship, plus miscellaneous large home decor and pottery stuff.

    Komo, ah, gotcha! :)

The box in the box realy is the best and easyest way to ship!
I worked out several systems over the years, the one more complex then the other.
But my latest seems to work very well as well.
Have the item to send bound on the middle of a strong panel (I usualy use a styrene foam panel). The panel should be just as big that it fits the box diagonally, so that the object doesn't touch the box, and the panel doesn't float! Use shrink wrap to fix the item on the foam panel. And it will arrive save and sound! I Usualy use thise for mirror's. It doesn't work well for very big/high items.
I get my foam boards from a shop selling TV's and so on.
    cheers

Thanks for the tip, Kris. :)

We have a variety of styrofoam pieces from packages shipped to us and I've been saving them to use in packing. I like your idea of using shrink wrap to hold the item to the foam.

I've also thought we might use sheets of styrofoam to strengthen the sides of boxes.

Very cool Lefton figurines. #020 are not in any catalogue (unreported items) that I know about. Speaks to rarity. I would call them calypso dancer and bongo player/musician. Lefton also made same shapes #021 with pink as well as black, white, and gold - also unreported items. Lefton 1950s black, white, and gold items some of my favorite things Lefton sold.

how not to pack and ship EAPG cake stands:
pick a small box. loosely wrap in a single layer of bubble wrap, wedge stand in box so that the plate forces the sides of the box to bulge and provide no support for the stem/pedestal. I think this package was like handled carefully by the currier since it was really broken into tiny bits.

Pros to this packing method: maybe the value of those HTF EAPG salvers still remaining will somehow increase in value.

I'm so sorry, Tallcakes - the poor thing never stood a chance! Some sellers just do not appreciate the items they sell.

not so interestingly, the box measures 9.75" x 10.5" and the stand was 'forced' in there with the 10.75" plate pushing out all sides of the box making the box appear a bit rounded.

Good grief! Some people just don't have the brains for proper packing.
