You will see others using that phrase. But I don’t know if it’s of the period or authentic, but someone will. :)

Thanks I'll have a good shufty now I've got the title of the piece

I do think mine looks better facially than the linked one, but like I said I'm still 50/50

I think it's James 1 with a Bible. The two pages are in kilts with argyle stockings, and it makes more sense than King John. His clothes are wrong for John the Only too; John Lackland would have been in long robes.

Could be. There are a lot with the other title, BUT we all know how that happens.

Jivvy the research is my favorite

There's this, which everyone on the free-to-say-whatever-you-want internet says it's King John... but I have yet to find the origin of the image.

Yeah thank you, I had a good butchers !

I reckon it'll take an expert to tell if it's right or not, as they do all seem quite varying

I think the whiteness of mine is a good sign, as the proper ones I've looked at in hand always seem to have that

Yes, I don’t know the first thing about telling age or quality by looking. Someone will be along. I HOPE it’s the real deal. :)

I hate to say it, but at this point the fake might be worth as much as the original.

Yeah your right though, the price for Staffordshire stuff has severely plummeted

Never a better time for buying it

Repro, but older - 1950s ish maybe 70s. That glaze is way too shiny, the decoration far too considered.
