I picked this piece up today on my way home from vacation. The base is finally cut it almost appears to be glass. I seen a nearly identical example described as KPM style, but it didn't have any information about it. I've also seen pieces of Nymphenburg that look similar. Any thoughts as to age and maker are greatly appreciated. The piece stands 10" tall. The mark has three vertical lines with a backwards L centered below the bottom line.

    Thanks,

    Joe,
I'm not seeing the quality in the decoration I would expect from KPM. But I really don't know that much about it. Also, Did you notice the little anchor painted on back near the dog's leg? I wonder what it means? It's completely out of place with the subject matter. Could be a clue........

BTW,,,,,i think it would date from the 30's to early 40's, Reminds me of the occupied japan Figurines.

DUH! Just dawned on me that this guy is a Fox Hunter! Hence the horn and the hounds.

The porcelain is too heavy to be occupied Japan, IMO. The color scheme on the legs and tree stump does remind me of occupied Japan though.

Hi, I think the golden anchor mark is Chelsea, 18th century, but I do not know if Chelsea porcelain was imitated later...

The Chelsea mark was usually very small and on the underside near the rim. I don't think this is Chelsea. It's an attractive figurine, but I don't think it's by a major maker.

its a 19th century fake chelsea figure, probably German or French manufacture, we see them fairly often here. The chelsea Anchor marks were widely faked and copied.

The fact the base cuts look glassy indicate hard paste porcelain which is mostly European manufacture, In England it was mostly soft paste that was used.
