    Hi,
Taking all things in, the height, the gloves, wrapped neck. I think perhaps the she is a he. The gloves are covering very large hands. Unless the "lady" is going motoring which the outfit (except for the hat) does suggest, I feel he is a cross dresser.

    Greg, I beg to differ.
Every time a woman doesn't look like a some soft Gibson girl shows up, people jump on the "cross dresser" bandwagon.
The "wrapped neck" was just the style at the time, and some women never, ever, felt "dressed" without gloves.

I did notice the gloves and also thought "driving gloves."

So whether a she or a he, any thoughts on "when? It's an AZO AERO card with divided back. No postage info pre-printed.

And what about that chair? I know I've never seen on like it. Maybe I need to post the chair on furniture?

Thank you, thank you, Messi! I think you're right. The AZO information confirms - triangles in the corners, all pointing up.

I heartily agree. That "wrapped neck" style screams Edwardian. Queen Alexandria, consort of Edward the VII, was the fashion icon of that age. She was noted for her high neck wear from collars to chokers.
Scroll down a bit to see her collars, etc...

Even in the 1950s, gloves were still very much in fashion when going out.

Queen Mary, grandmother of Elizabeth II, also wore this style a lot.

I posted a thread about the chair in the Furniture Forum.

definitely either riding or driving gloves............no self respecting lady would be caught dead wearing any leather gloves other than kidskin when out calling, shopping or walking............POSSIBLY chamois gloves for gardening or golf

Found these in an online book, the first is my great grandfather Ernest Choate and the second is my great, great grandfather George Choate, the photos were taken by Ernest and the glass slide negatives they were printed from were donated to the Milton Historical Society by my mothers aunt back in the 1980's.

Nice photos, and it must be fun to have a connection to local history.

I knew about George and he being the first elected chief and Ernest also being employed by the Fire Dept. but didn't know about the alarm circuit board he designed.
I've been doing some research on my mothers side and found much more interesting stuff than I ever imagined I would and gone back further back than I ever thought I could.

This tiny photo dates to 1940 and is from a house in Ystradgynlais. Lots of yesterday antiques, old family bible underneath that would have been used to also record family births deaths and marriages

Rhiw..., love the pic with all those copper luster[tre], or lusterware of some type, creamers/pitchers/jugs and pewter, pewter, pewter. With your avatar a copper luster pitcher, I certainly see why this pic attracted you. Do you collect it? I'm a sucker for lusterware/lustreware, but sadly only have a few creamers and cups.

Susan, no, although it is attractive I don't collect lustreware but am interested in pictures and writing on ceramics. Sadly, copper lustre in the UK is so out of fashion that, at the last auction, I was given a lot free that I haven't even bothered trying to sell.
