I found this here in Oregon with some other NA items. It's 19"w x 17"h and is stitched onto to two pieces of cotton cloth. Was it perhaps a pillowcase?

I'd appreciate any opinions re: age, location and/or tribal affiliation.

    Thank you!

a lot of 1st nations bead work is designed to be in close quarters....
this one is ' very ' open and flowing...

even this somewhat similar one is in tight quarters...

Yeah, thanks. I'm impressed with it. We're going to put it in a picture frame and see how it looks under glass. We have lots of textiles on the walls in our house, so it fits the vibe.

I am with others on the Canadian border states. I have had smaller beaded pin cushions from the Niagara Falls NA. Sure looked similar in design. Sold them all for very good prices.

@Potteryplease, I hope you don't mind me piggybacking here.

I recently acquired this little bag, buried in a box of junk at auction. About 8" x 7 1/2" (not including strap), in similar style, on what I think is smoked moose hide.
Perhaps @komokwa and @Lark might weigh in?

I am waiting for some tiny white heart beads to come, to repair the losses on the side.

It does seem to have a more "European" layout.

As usual, a cultural journey of learning and understanding thanks to you guys.

I did not have much understanding of the term Metis. There's a lot to that. And tracing a possible European aesthetic in the design is so interesting to me artistically. Thank you!
