Sorry not antique but vintage, perhaps interesting if u need to see what American kids wore way back in 1950s. Part of a personal history project where I'm trying to put names to old acquaintances. School was Lakewood Elementary School in Park Forest, Il. The town was one of the early postwar "planned communities" like Levittown, NY. Only names I've got so far from posting on Park Forest-associated webpages are Prudence (no. 7) and Camille (no. 10.). Don't even have teacher's name for sure yet. Too bad I didn't write any of the names down while I lived there '53-55. I'm no. 17.

#24 reminds me of a classmate I had (I went to the same school for all twelve grades) who, every single day through at least Grade 8, had on one of his cowboy outfits (shirt and pants with fringe down the side and cowboy boots).

#7 -- with her pearl necklace and sweet face I'd be surprised if she wasn't a homecoming or May queen at some point in her high school years.

Are you a member of any Facebook groups for Park Forest? Especially high school groups? Although this is an elementary school photo, even the high school groups (especially school reunion pages) will post those sorts of photos and try to identify all the people. That has happened with the h.s. reunion group for my high school class.

I don't know whether you went to high school there or not, but they would probably let you join that kind of group. For my h.s. the people who graduated two years before me will let anybody at all join their group... so I did!

Good idea, yes I've asked to join the Rich township East class of 1966 fb group and am waiting to hear back, and I'm sure I will get in one way or another. I also ordered the HS yearbook for Rich East '66 and should be able to match many pictures that way.

Yes agree, interestingly after I posted the pic on the "growing up in Park Forest Il" fb page she (Prudence) recognized her own pic and said so, mentioning the necklace she remembered. She mentioned beautiful girl no. 10, Camille A., who she remembered. When I googled Camille, she had been in the local paper quite a bit in community activities like holiday festivals.

I picked up this photo at an estate sale this morning - just because it I thought it was a sweet image. 3 children from a small Washington town, early 1900's(?) I think. Fortunately some identifying info on the back - from the left Grace, Sam and Harry - with their Christmas toys. Sam's battle ship on the floor is quite impressive, don't you think?

Taken by (or possibly reproduced by) Kirk and Collier of Olympia, Wash.

Oh my goodness, the little boy on the right is adorable. Now those are some fat sausage/finger curls. ;)

The info on the back implies that little Harry was 5 at the time, but he looks a bit younger to me

Now this is a HAT! And a very interesting chair too!

A relative of the children seen above.

Any thoughts on when this would have been taken? It's RPPC, so there's no photographer info, and it was never mailed, so no postmark for reference.

 And she didn't really need the extra height either, did she?

The netting veil reminds me of ones I've seen on "motoring" chapeaux, but I don't think the foliage and flowers on the hat would survive the trip.

She is one "tall drink of water," as they say. The top of the chair back doesn't even start to come to her waist.

She is to be commended for her good posture -- obviously a self-assured woman.
