Back atcha Peter! Happy 4th of July everyone. The booms are already going on all around my area. I won't hope for a lot of sleep tonight....
It's raining here still, or at least dripping. No one's been able to shoot off fireworks except God. He did a good job last night - thunder and lightning.
There were several noisy Americans discharging fireworks late into the night at the local university campus half a mile from me even though it was raining heavily. I noticed on the eBay collectables board the Mods took down a "Happy 4th" post, oh well. Nice sunny day now with the Tour De France winding its way through gods own county (Yorkshire) as we speak, absolutely thousands upon thousands of spectators. Yes you read that right a tour of France through Yorkshire
There is something to be said for being able to watch fireworks from one's bed! Due to the weather in the earlier evening, some of the shows were either cancelled, or delayed. But just as I was dozing off, a series of great bangs went off, and sparkles and stars rained down like crazy. Since my condo is located almost IN the river, the whole show was reflected in the water. There are some childish things it is never time to put away.
As bizarre as it sounds, yes the Tour de France started in Yorkshire this am, it was estimated there were 2 million spectators lining the route. http://edition.cnn.com/2014/07/04/sport/cycling-tour-de-france-yorkshire-wiggins/
LOL! Act II of the IVth! Everyone who backed out of the fireworks on the proper day, made up for it last night. The horizon SW across the river from me is pierced by a graceful tall spire. (Looks gorgeous when the sun is setting.) But last night's display was directly behind the church, making it look as if stars were being created in the belfry and blown into the night sky. (Hope the angels had my vantage point!)
