Little brooch and a beaded purse...

So before the auction I happened to discover this little treasure in a missed drawer. I pulled it out before the auction cause it looked kind of neat. I thought it just had tissue in it but there was a little brooch wrapped in it. It has all the stones but no mark. I thought there was a mark on the back but it was just a nic. It looks like the smallest stones have turned yellow unless they were always yellow. At first I thought it might be silver but there are no markings that would indicate that. The clasp is modern. I don't know much about antique jewelry so of course I had to post it. I

 

Art deco brooch, and darn it, I can't remember what the stones were called! Someone will remember... And no, the stones did not start out yellow, but they get that way over time. Love the little purse!

I agree with the dating on the pin. It has rhinestones (not marcasites) and from the photos, appears to be a pot metal or a similar lower end metal. With yellowed stones, this kind of metal, a piece like this would have minimal resale value in my opinion.

1930s pot metal and rhinestone it is. These pins were sold in every Woolworth's in America, not to mention other places. Most weren't signed. The stones could be replaced if you ever wanted to bother, but these pieces aren't worth much even with bright original stones. You can soak them out with acetone (nail polish remover) and replace with modern or vintage stones if you want to, or just leave it as is.

 

Bag is 60s, brooch 1930s, in the style of duette dress clips. I rather like the older stones.
