I know a hand on inspection will be needed for the proper identification but just in case someone can suggest approx. age and origin.
To me it looks like hand crafted. It smells old. Not sure if the case is original. It has a locker by Eagle Lock Co Terryville .
The chin rest reads "Made In Cechoslovakia ( with Ce not Che, typo?) but it does not mean it was made there.
    Any suggestions are welcomed.
    Thanks

Looks old and probably contemporary with the case. No label inside? Lack of a label does not make it worthless and you will need to have someone knowledgeable take a look. That said, I am not seeing an extremely high quality violin here. I am no expert so take that for what it is worth. I am guessing the Czech designation on the chin rest is as good of indication of source as any. I think a lot of violins were made there for export. Be sure to check the bow. They can often be worth more than the violin.

All I know for certain is that it was made between 1919 and 1990. I'm going to take a guess and say 1930s on this one, but that's all it is. A lot of the older ones have fake labels; this one is what it says it is. You might want to check the bow for names too; sometimes the stick is worth more than the fiddle.

    Thanks for the replies.
If I know for sure the chin rest is original then yes, between 1919-1990.
The bow appears to be hand carved as well.No marks besides inscribed 'XI'.

I don't know enough about bows to be much more help. However, the spelling on the Violin is correct if you're writing the country's name in Czech. If I'm reading things properly, having it labeled that way puts the violin on the earlier end rather than later.

I am not sure. The 'made in' would usually be followed by the country written in Western alphabet. Plus, if written in Czech it would be Československo.

True, but this was a Czech writing in English and that's how it used to come out.
